Phylum Euglenophyta

Most organisms in this phylum contain chloroplasts, therefore photosynthetic. However, there are some heterotrophic organisms that ingest food from organic materials suspended in water. They are unicellular. These organisms are motile with flagella. They have an eyespot that allowed cells to swim towards light. These organisms have a firm but flexible layer called pellicle.
